For any smoker, a weed grinder is one of the most essential pieces of kit you can own. The quality of your grinder will seriously affect how well your weed smokes. The purpose of a weed grinder is to shred your herb, so when you smoke it, it burns evenly, instead of burning in large clumps quickly. This allows your weed to burn at a good rate, so you don’t end up wasting any.
All grinders have two grind sections which have the teeth used for grinding up the weed, the weed goes in between the two sections to be ground up, some types of grinders have extra levels to collect different parts of the weed as well.
Why Use A Weed Grinder?
That is a question that you will hear from a lot of smokers who have never used a grinder before. It just makes every aspect of smoking better, by grinding up the weed, it smokes at a much slower rate compared to in a clump, this means the weed will last longer when you’re smoking it. It also makes rolling a lot easier, it makes mixing with tobacco a hell of a lot easier too.
Besides the obvious advantages, weed grinders are really cheap, you can get a decent one for $20 to $30 and it will massively improve your smoking experience. Another huge advantage of using a grinder, is that you will be able to collect the kief from all the weed you grind, but I’ll talk more about that later in the article.
What Types of Weed Grinders Are There?
There are three main types of grinder, the 2 chamber grinder, the 3 chamber grinder and finally the 4 chamber grinder. You can also get electric grinders as well, but just like electric cigarette rollers they’re quite expensive and they’re really not worth the extra money.
A 2 chamber grinder is simply a grinder made up of only the two grind sections with the teeth. This is a really simple version of a grinder and is very minimalist, it grinds up your weed really quickly and that’s it. This is the cheapest type of grinder you can get, but it’s not the best type. Then you have 3 chamber grinders, these have the two grind sections with the teeth that all grinders have, but there is also another section below the bottom grind section that collects all the weed. This is a really convenient way to store your freshly grounded weed, this type of grinder is slightly more expensive than the 2 chamber grinder.
Finally you have the 4 chamber grinder, it is exactly the same as the 3 chamber grinder but, as you’d imagine, it has one extra section which is below the weed collection section. This section is where you collect the kief from the ground weed, kief is basically the extremely fine pollen that comes off the weed when you grind it, it is extremely potent and it can turn some average weed into some really powerful stuff.
Out of all the different types of grinder, the 4 chamber grinder is easily the best, it is worth owning one just for the kief collector at the bottom, if you haven’t smoked kief before then you are missing out.
